This Sunday is the first Sunday of the Advent season. 🕯️ This year I’m using the reading plan from O Come, O Come, Emmanuel by Jonathan Gibson 📚 The book is an excellent resource for advent, but you can also just use the reading plan. I’m a day late posting this as the plan actually began yesterday.
Finished reading: Growing Downward by Nick Thompson
I was surprised by how consistently good this book was all the way through. It is definitely one of the top books I’ve read this year.📚
Wipr 2 is available today. This excellent little app has been my Adblocker of choice for years now. It does its job better in my experience than most of its competitors while remaining lightweight and unobtrusive. apps.apple.com/app/id166…

Youth is when you lie down in the grass, watch the sky, and no one thinks it odd. At middle age, were you to lie down in the grass and look up at the clouds, passersby might stop to check on your well-being. Old age is when it’s no longer possible to lie in the grass and get up again without aid.
I was pleasantly surprised today to see new episodes of The Day One Podcast appear. I always enjoyed this podcast and was sad when it went dormant. Now, after a three-year hiatus, it seems they are relaunching, and I have high hopes. The Day One Podcast is Back!
Breakfast on the Campfire—Autumn 2021 🏕️

Currently reading: Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices by Thomas Brooks 📚 This has been on my list for a long time and I’m finally getting around to it.
Sad to hear about Panic Software’s (completely understandable) decision to drop support for Google Drive. I hear a lot of concern about Apple becoming developer hostile and driving away devs. One reason I think that hasn’t happened more is that Google is even worse to deal with.
This beautiful weather has me wanting to go camping. 🏕️ Planning a short trip next week if we can get everyone over their head colds. In the meantime here are a few pictures from our trip to Montauk State Park in 2021.
