Finished reading: The Spirit of the Age by J. V. Fesko 📚 This brief, somewhat technical overview provides a helpful historical survey and analysis of the confession’s pneumatology.

Finished re-reading: The Kingdom of God by Jeffrey Johnson 📚 An excellent book. One of the best introductions to historic baptist covenant theology that I’ve read.

Finished reading: Taught by God by Brandon D. Smith which makes the case for the admiration and retrieval of a premodern form of interpretation. 📚

“every biblical theology is incomplete, a drawn-up bucket out of an endless well”

— L. Michael Morales in Exodus Old and New 💬 📚

I’m thankful for cool summer mornings. 📸

A spiderweb covered in dewdrops is intricately woven with a blurred background of greenery.

Maybe Blaugest will be the nudge I need to blog more consistently. Two days and two micro posts in so I guess we’ll see.

I finished reading: Exodus Old and New by L. Michael Morales 📚 Although a few of the author’s connections were unconvincing, this book succeeds in clearly establishing the exodus as an important theme throughout scripture.

As time goes on, I find myself less enthralled with big name conference speakers and more impressed by the pastors of small local churches with a long track record of faithfulness.

Finished reading: The Covenants by R. B. C. Howell, a book on Baptist Covenant Theology from the 19th century. I found chapters 7 and 9 the most helpful. Be aware, that the author has some unique views, and the language is a bit archaic. It’s available free online or as an ebook 📚

Time flies, but it still manages to surprise me sometimes. I was just looking back at an old journal entry for something that I thought happened about two years ago. It was actually six years ago!

O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am! (Psalm 39:4)
